MARISOL APOSTOL

Marisol’s dancing is all about “juerga.” Her dancing  vibrant and earthy, is the embodiment of fun, wholesome, and in the moment as she connects with the singer and musicians.

Her classes are energetic, earthy, and fun while working on the essence of Flamenco in order to develop clear footwork, and self expression.  Emphasis is given to posture, braceo & floreo (arms & hands) marking, basic footwork, palmas, jaleos, rhythm,  cante-guitar-dance relationship awareness,  body movement isolation, and an earthy presence.

Currently, she is studying flamenco cante from varios  singers to develop her  understanding of musicality and melody, as well as the importance of cante in the improvisation of dance.

Sol began her flamenco studies with Yaelisa in 1989.  Since then, She has embraced Flamenco  through many classes and workshops from local and  visiting flamenco artists such as Farruquito, Juana Amaya, Domingo Ortega, Maria del Mar Moreno, Cihtli Ocampo & Ethan Margolis, Oscar Nieto, La Chacha, Sara Olivar, Carola Zertuche, Luis Pena,  Javier Heredia, and Lakshmi among others;  as well as, New York City based artists Victorio, and Jose  Molina, and by participating extensibly in flamenco gatherings.
